Making progress

I have finally started to get around to rehabing a TDB 16 sculler that I picked up this winter. Progress has been slow, but its progress. Here's what I started with:

After a couple of weekends working on the sculler I am to this point now:

I have one problem that I have come across and am not sure the best way to fix it. Where the upper and lower halves were glassed together I found some spots where the resin was bubbling, I scraped out the bad resin and sanded it down. Is okay to just come back and fill in the voids with epoxy or should I do something else? Here is a picture of one of the affected areas:

Looks great I am sure you will be sneaking up on a few unsuspecting birds come fall.

Now you just need to finish the mustang.

MUSTANG?!?!?!?!? MUSTANG?!?!?!?! MUSTANG?!?!?!? How dare you insult a Mopar fanatic that way ........ Thats a 73 Dodge Challenger in the background another, more expensive, project that is on the back burner until my son is done college. At least you didnt call it a Camaro ..... I would of lost my mind..... LOL!
Michael I'm still unsure what to do on the grassing rails .... I've thought about just putting bungee cords on in place of the wooden rails but I kind of want to put it back the way it came from the factory too. I plan on grassing it up just not sure which type will hold the grass best when traveling with it on a trailer .....

If it were me, I'd sand 2-3" all around that, including the lip that extends out. Then I'd take some fiberglass tape and overlap a couple layers extending up under that lip. Epoxy that in, sand and paint. If the glass under that all looks good, you might get away with just applying a couple coats of epoxy.

Very cool project, you'll love the sculling.
Concerning the grassing rails, if you believe you need them, use the old ones as a pattern and make new ones out of white oak or mahogany & bolt them in from the underside.

Outstanding job on boat! Where you plan on using her? The bay, Potomac, local resoviors and rivers. I have really been getting the itch for adding a sculling boat to the fleet. Also, are you going to put sm. outboard on?

This sculler will be used primarily on the upper Potomac for geese and puddlers. I will take it up with to Maine in November for the second season there on Merrymeeting Bay. I'd definitely recommend getting a sculler, once you make a sucessful scull on a flock you'll be hooked for life. I have a small 4 hp outboard that I will use to get me up the river and to my hunting spots. Cant wait put a few geese on the bow..... Thanks for all the comments.
