Sunfish conversion

I have been debating on building a layout boat when I ran across this. I have an idea of what I want. I have seen several guys threads about converting them and figured I'll give it a try. Any advice, precautions, etc are very welcome!

Someone on this site posted a beautiful sunfush conversion. Hopefully they will reply to your note. Or, you can use the search feature and type in sunfish conversion. It is worth trying as the job done was very nice.

I've done two of the Sunfish conversions and used the boats for many years. One was chopped down to 10' the other 11' and both were used as layout boat or for the local swamps powered by a 40lb motor.
The best advise I can give is to research the diffrent conversion styles and have a concrete plan before cutting.

I made this one last fall. I never did put a motor on it, just paddled it. I think I'm going to enlarge the cock pit this summer. I picked up another hull to use as a layout. Hopefullly I'll have time to do it before fall. Good luck with your project.

It was a post by DL Marshall titled "Here are some pic's of a boat I built a few years back". Last reply was Jan. 30, 2010.

I need glass, epoxy and paint. I should actually get it on the water this year. I also need a battery.

I got the glass and epoxy over a week ago but with 67% humidity I decided to hold of until it drops a little. Hopefully some new pics this week.

good plan on waiting..... epoxy I painted on a week ago is still tacky. Not sure it is not yet cured, or blushed? Will hit it with scotchbrite water tonight to see if it comes off.
