Setting up your carving shop?

Guys I have a makeshift one now.. Would appreciate posts or suggestions of ideas you have found useful over the years

When you do not know (where everything is), then it's time to clean the shop, no matter how large or small your shop is. Many fine decoys have been carved in very small work areas.

In a small work area space you can gain significant work room by storing infrequently used items on high shelving near the ceiling. Shelving suspended from the ceiling also maintains work space while enabling the carver to store items in an area that is largely wasted in a shop.

Guys with neat shops scare me.......

I am shopless at the moment. I have a 2x6 with my Power Arm at one end and my machinist vise at the other end. I clamp it to the picnic table outside. Or I sit on an inverted bucket in the basement. You do what you have to do. I like the natural light outside though.
