Tuckerton 2017

Well, after 20 years of for this reason or that, and never been to Tuckerton. I found out the dates (9/23&9/24) if you don't know already. I text my fiance, "Hey, want to go to a waterfowling festival in NJ 9/23&9/24? I've never been and always have wanted to go".

She writes back "I put in for the time off."

God I have to seal this deal and marry her.....

She then wrote "What can I do while you are "festivaling?"" She has a sense of humor as well. I imagine that there are a few antique shops close by the area.

Hotel recommendations a short walk from the location?

Jim, you should consider staying on Long Beach Island. There is a decent place in Barnegat Light called the North Shore, you can walk to the beach from there and there are places to eat out in the evening. You can also go south to Beach Haven, there are a couple of places there also. There isn't much in Tuckerton, and it might take you a 1/2 hour from Barnegat Light, but it is an easy half hour and will give you something else to do.

Jim,
that show is a great trip. All three I went to I enjoyed each for some small part that was different from the others.
Be sure to take the drive out on the marsh to see where the real lifesaving station is and drive past the old bunker plant.
The seaport is very worth looking through also.
A great weekend with great folks.

If you dont find anything on LBI, like other have suggested you can always look further south. The Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club is~25 min south on Rt 9. The LPGA has a match there every year and is supposed to have a nice spa, maybe more your fiance's cup of tea (no clue as to cost though). Another 10 minutes south and there are a bunch of hotels and motels on Rt 30 in Galloway and Absecon. From there, 10 minutes down Rt 30 and you have Atlantic City with all the casino hotels and amenities. Total drive time is comparable to staying at some places on LBI, even though they are much closer "as the crow flies"

Hey guys I'm new here but avoid the hotels on rt 30 in absecon and AC in general. Try the bed and breakfast at the smithvile Inn. I live 15 miles south of tuckerton seaview is probably the best option though.

Been in that area for 25 years now. The Inn at Sea Oaks is gorgeous but I have a feeling it may be booked due to the festival. About a 30 min drive south from the show are the hotels on the Black Horse Pike (my favorite) and the White Horse Pike. The White Horse is fine closer to the parkway but as you get closer to AC the area gets rougher. Look up Tackle Direct which is a fishing store just off the Black Horse. That area in Egg Harbor Township is beautiful and has some more commercialized hotels. LBI is another option and 30 min as well depending on where on the island you are (remember, one bridge on and off). Manahawkin is another option. There are some commercialized hotels there as well.

The show is definitely worth the time spent. Lots of deals to be had. LBI is also a short drive away and plenty to do there even in September.
