Chip Wallace

My name is Chip Wallace and I live in Memphis, TN. I've been duck hunting for four years now after a long absence from the sport. Like most of you waterfowling has hit me hard and like most of you all I have tried to find new ways to increase my success ( or at least the chance for success) by increasing my mobility and access to new waters. Having no access to land of my own my friends and myself hunt a local WMA called Eagle Lake, the Mississippi and an oxbow lake called Island 40 chute when the water's high. This year I also had the opportunity to hunt with some friends from Dyersburg at Reelfoot. Trying to increase my mobility led me this year to convert an '82 16ft Bass Tracker into a duck boat. I removed all the old decking and livewell and with some modifications made some more available space. I also put in new carpet and installed a colapsable blind with camo netting for concealment. Alas, motor difficulties has limited it's use for this season but I'm satisfied with the results and there is always fishing season and next year. For smaller, protected waters I use a ten foot john that I haul on top of my Explorer on a Yakima rack ( another new toy). This spring however, if time allows I will be starting one of Devlin's plans either the Broadbill or the Mallard.

My wife Dana and my new pup Parker Wallace of Carruther's Place. Dana is a good sport about my hunting. When we first met she was a rabid "anti-gun" advocate. Now she likes to go out occasionally and brave the frigid temps to watch the dogs work and look for bald eagles at Reelfoot lake.

My hunting buddy J. Paul Jackson with his HRCH Mckenzie's Lady Madelyn and her first litter from which my new pup will be from.
