    George Warin Decoy Pics?

I don't have any decoy collecting books. Probably be way too expensive for me to try to buy as well.

    George Warin Decoy Pics?

I am looking to build a collection of George Warin decoy pics. Looking for pics with any angles of his decoys. Would be really nice if I could get multiple pics of the same decoy in different views. Top and side views really needed the most. Thanks!

suggested wood/cork for a beginning carver

Ask him what type of material he wants to carve in and go from there. Personally I would much rather have wooden decoys than cork an day and local wood is normally cheaper too. Grayson Chesser's book also has many patterns including carving and painting instructions.

    insulate new shop??

Been working on putting insulation in mine. I decided if I am going to carve in the hot summers and cold winters that I want my shop insulated, cooled and heated.

    Glass eyes

I use Schoepfer eyes in clear and paint them with Krylon. I haven't bought any in a long while but they did give discounts the more you buy. I normally order a 100 pairs at a time.

    Mallards and Ringnecks

Get ringnecks in most places we get puddle ducks... even the timber. Not uncommon at all.

    Show me those bluebills!

When someone says Bluebill decoys I automatically think of this Torry Ward pair.

    Decoy Carving

I have a couple of store bought draw knives and they are OK. The rest I have picked up at yard sales, flea markets and the like. I like the older ones much better. As far as shape and size... find one that feels right to you. I find that I prefer the smaller straight edged.

    Carving tools?

Kevin, Depends on what type of wood I am using, how hard I am pressing in, etc. I normally get over a dozen heads before it's time to replace it if everything goes right. Sometimes 1/2 a dozen. Just depends on a lot of factors. Like I said let the tool do the work. Don't force it.

    Carving tools?

I have a couple of Foredoms but my main power carving tool for heads is a Dremel tool with a flexible shaft and the 1/2 inch sanding drums. I also use a small, blue, flame shaped carbide cutter for the eye channel. The key is to take it slow and let the tool do the work instead of trying to hog...

    Palm fronds

Those would be great for making Delta Marsh style canvasbacks.

    Pro-Hitch?

Went to the local Goodwill store and saw a bulky looking trailer hitch on the floor with a $15.00 price tag on it. Took a few seconds for it to soak in what the purpose of it was. It's the type that you pull up on a pin and it will swing from side to side and also extend so you don't have to be...
