The Marsh Pig at sea (actually a tributary of the Pamlico Sound). The guy in the Camo gear is one of my main buds, Peter Boettger. He supplies the Chessie(named the dog "Slick Willie" after you know who). Other members of the normal crew are Terrie (that's right, a lady hunter) Jenkins and my son Pete. The big guy in the white sweater is yours truly.

The Pig is a 17 1/2 Dixie tri-hull, 1973 vintage, and was in pretty miserable shape when she was given to me. Much work was done to make her seaworthy prior to designing and building the sectional blind.

The blind is made of bent electrical conduit, covered by large mesh dog wire insulated on the inside by sheets of camo tarp cut to fit and laced to the wire, that in turn is covered by burlap. The outboard sides of the sections are brushed with Giant Spartina and other reeds. Each section fits into pre-drilled holes that are in a false gunwale we added. I can take the blind down or set it up in about 5 minutes.

We typically run in very big water in the dark so it is necessary to run unencumbered. All pieces of the blind fit into the open bow section of the Pig leaving the rest of the deck for people, dogs, decoys (usually 120 ducks and 12-15 geese).

Good photo of the 50 hp that has just been replaced by a 90 hp. 50 hp just wasn't enough, it would barely put us on plane when fully loaded.

The pig is normally secured close in the lee of a marsh, and the birds never seem to know she's there until we decide to try them.
