Calling all 4 eyes, lasik question

Chris, I had my eyes done 5 or so years ago, and wish I had done it 10 years earlier, although the lasers and software are so much better... I get some starburst on taillights at night, but have always had good night vision, and it doesn't really bother me...I've adapted to it, and so be it...

Mystery Sneakbox - ready for Winter (almost)

Steve, That boat has beautiful lines...something about a sneakbox... Wish there were more places in Arkansas to use one, because I absolutely love them...

    Arkansas Duck Hunting In Decline?

Eric, There is a lot of, "it was better then" going on, and my evidence is anecdotal, but... I heard of at least three of the larger, expensive clubs (six figure buy in) that normally kill 3500 birds every year that didn't make that this year...one was rumored to kill 400 in the opening split...

Recommendations for a guided hunt in Arkansas green timber?

They are out of business. The property was bought and then re-sold once more in that time.

    Decoy carvers, particularly Alabama...

The 4.5" cork is sold. One sheet of 3.5" is sold. The rest is available, and I believe there are three pieces of basswood and one of tupelo his wife found in their garage. Bass is 30x7.5x4 thick, tupelo is 24x6x3.5 thick.

If you were to only own one shotgun

Tom, I started with a 20-gauge, left hand, 2-3/4" 870 wingmaster (fleur de lis on the stock) with a 26" barrel and improved cylinder choke. If we could still shoot lead, I'd probably still be shooting it. My father shot an 870 Wingmaster Magnum with a 28" barrel and modified choke and bought...

    Decoy carvers, particularly Alabama...

I am helping Bill McAdam's wife liquidate his carving supplies and equipment. She is located in Huntsville, Alabama. If you are interested in anything, please send me a message and let me know. This is the first round of "stuff"; I will post more as I have time. Cork: 2 full sheets, 3" @$60...

If you were to only own one shotgun

I bought a Citori Lightning, new in the box, in January, 1995. 28" barrels, 3 inch chambers. I've shot skeet, trap, sporting clays, doves, pheasants, quail, squirrels, rabbit, ducks in 5 different states, geese, and a beaver with it. I wonder sometimes where my new gun went when I see the...

Most ducks that ever landed in your decoys

I don't really know. I've had some amazing days in flooded timber, though...and the odd part is that it isn't usually one big flock. For me, the largest groups I've had started out with maybe 20 mallards that circled. Guys leaned against tall oak trees, water about to the tops of the boots...

    What was your first duck

Anthony, I honestly don't remember. My parents started taking me when I was 4 years old, since my mother hunted ducks also, and no babysitter would come over to the house at 3:30 in the morning...they sat me on top of the blind wearing a camo headnet and told me to sit still and tell them if I...

Time for change? (Terribly long winded)

Bummer. But, I will say this...Arkansas is not what it was, even 10 years ago, much less 20 or more. There are still ducks, and there are still private clubs killing them, but I think the legendary hunts that everyone wants when they come here are over. Changes to ag production, hunting...

    Classified Ad

I didn't take it out for ducks this year; long story, but most of the places I hunted and people I hunted with weren't really places to take the Fox.

Worthwhile Adventure Story or Irresponsible Journalism?

God takes care of fools, small children and ships named Enterprise. That's the answer to the "How This Columnist Survived a Couple Close Calls" title. This article does nothing to educate or entertain and is poorly written. We've all been out on days we shouldn't have, and done a few things...

Bill McAdam passed away this morning.

The circle gets a little smaller. I met Bill because of duckboats...we decided, along with a few others, to get together in Memphis for the Ducks Unlimited festival that used to be held there. After going to the show, we would go back to the Red Roof Inn and take over the back parking lot. We...

Bill McAdam - request for prayers

Just wanted to drop a quick note here for all who know Bill to take a moment and keep him and Tina in your thoughts and prayers. He's had a bad health issue and the outlook is pretty much certain from the info I have.

    Pintail back feathers

Looks like they would be good for a smelt or similar pattern...you want just the 4/5 pointed ones, or as they get more rounded will that work also?

Looks like I'm going to lose my dearest hunting buddy

Bill, That was a hard call to get from you after we'd spent a great couple days together. I'm sorry; I know how much you love your boys...and I always enjoy the time I spend with Duncan and all of your Labs. He's a good dog. It's a hard thing to let go. I always liked what Michener had a...
