Very nice! My aunt and uncle have a place on Rangeley that I have yet to make it up to.

    Looking Duck Boat Suggestions

^^^ This, not sure where you're from but even in NJ finding a high box is becoming almost impossible. And they are going for 2x what they went for new due to demand. DB13 would fit the need nicely and easier to find.

    Grassed up

Couple different varieties, old school and new school. Salt hay and spartina on my cedar boat, raffia and spartina on my glass boat.

tuna fisherman in a duck boat

It was a duckboats.net member who is a licensed captain. If there ever was a day you were going to do it last Saturday would have been one. Flat as a lake most of the day. Of course I used to run my 23 regulator with a single 100 miles off so I'm not one to talk.

What's on your workbench ? MARCH

Not on the same level as the rest of the talented carvers/artists on here, but I did my own duck related wood working recently. Wrapped up a painting project in my living room with trying to figure out how to fill some of the space that 16 ft ceilings bring... this was my idea: Multi-species...

HP required to plane 12ft Higher BBSB.

That higbee isn't designed for two guys, it's a one man boat. My two man boat isn't a traditional sneakbox whatsoever. It's a Delaware bay design...

HP required to plane 12ft Higher BBSB.

12ft 6" for my two man boat. I have a Bob Fricke glass over cedar one man sneakbox, that boat gets a 15 hp yamaha two stroke. Haven't used that boat in a few years however.

HP required to plane 12ft Higher BBSB.

You could probably get away with a 9.9, plenty of guys do, but once you start adding grass, decoys, gear, etc. you'd be better off with a 15. I could easily get away with a 15 on my sneakbox, but when I have two dozen decoys, two guys and it's blowing a gale I'm glad I have a 25.

That rig will run like a speed boat with a 15hp two stroke. That's what everyone runs on them out this way. Higbees are light weight planing hulls.

    Snow goose hunting

I spent two days in Maryland and Delaware last weekend hunting snows and we did pretty well. 170 birds over two days with a couple nice blues and one band.

    Eurasian Wigeon - BEHR PAINTS

I was painting my master bath this weekend and had to get some behr samples and couldn't help but think of your decoys Steve. I did pick a wigeon/pintail bill style color.

    Nice Finish

That wigeon is in my freezer along with a stud spoonie from this season. Would like to do a ultimate puddle duck limit dead mount at some point...

    The final cut.

Come on Jay... 12ft highs and a meadow muffin. John's got every Roy boat from here to the St. Lawrence seaway.

NJ Black Ducks for the finish

Congrats on a successful end to the season Jay. As I've told you many times, if you can fool NJ black ducks you can fool anything.

    Sunfish in bays?

If you're looking to hunt somewhere very protected a sunfish conversion might suffice, but for the NJ coastal and delaware bay marshes, with giant tide swings and potential for nasty conditions I think a true barnegat bay sneakbox would be a better option. Now's the time of year when craigslist...

    Nice Finish

Well this season was a letdown for most after last year. Mild weather, lack of birds, lots of pressure in condensed areas, a lot of folks were very frustrated after most had banner seasons last year. I was blessed to be able to gun almost 50 days again this year and while my numbers were down...

    Spoon City

Still on the spoonies the last few weeks. Most shovelers I've ever shot in a season. Had a group of 30+ come in one day, that was fun. Also had a bonus banded black duck the other day, three year old locally banded bird. Not as great of a season as last year, but those of us that are putting...
