I Never Saw This Boat In A Herter's Catalog.

We had one of those silly things at camp in the 70's. We called it the Bat Boat for obvious reasons. I had no idea who made it until many years later as the Herters name had been removed before my family bought it. It was a plain white model, but fun to ride around in as a teenager.

    Just one fish

In the context of Japanese regulations, or are they really free of parasites? We eat farmed salmon once in a blue moon, I swear I've seen worms.

    Grumman Sport Boat Update

You're right, I'm getting ahead of myself. The salmon in the East Outlet at Indian Pond are in trouble next week. I need to get on Lobster, haven't been there in some years. The bigger boat might be called on for those lakes. So many spots needing attention. I'd like to hear how you like your...

    Grumman Sport Boat Update

Me too. I think you once mentioned that you hunted a first day or two at one of the spots I have in mind for the boat. Maybe we can race our new overpowered boats? Like those southern guys in mud boats through timber, but at Maine speed in a bog. ;)

    NDR- Fishing Rod Guide Replacement

Epoxy is the most common winding finish today. Far more durable than the old varnish, which is what I learned to build rods with as a kid.

    Grumman Sport Boat Update

Hope the boat works out for you. I looked at new Sport Boats, they're a bit pricey for their size. I picked up a brand new 12' john and a Suzuki 4 for over a thousand less than the Sport Boat alone. I think the 4 & your 6 are the same powerhead. Gave that shiny black motor a good dose of spray...

    NDR- Fishing Rod Guide Replacement

Yes, what Pete said. Easy Peasy. No fancy equipment required for simple guide replacement. You can use a tall chair, or one with arms rests, to hold the rod so you can spin it as you wrap. If I had to suggest one trick to minimize frustration, it's filing the guide foot a little to smooth the...

    Just one fish

Love those eyes for dinner. One of the best eating fish, fresh or salt water. Huh, never gave our dogs raw fish. I guess they would eat it. No concern about parasites? I'm careful to fully cook fresh water fish for our meals.

    Shotgun firing pin test kits

That, or take a few empties, remove the spent primer and replace. Cheap compared to the Brownell's set.

    Shotgun firing pin test kits

I think you're looking for snap caps? Google snap caps, there are many available.

    Just one fish

Those cats are fun Dave. I'm far from a catfish expert, but have fished for them quite a few times measured over many years. I've caught what I think are all the US cats, channel (yours I believe?), white (kinda small body with a huge head, we get them through the ice), yellow, flathead and...

    Just one fish

Yeah, those house wrens are crazy. I like their warble, but they make a mess. We have 5 gallon water bottles delivered because the well water isn't the best tasting even after the water softener. We store them in the garage, both full and empty between deliveries. If we leave the garage door...

Change To Federal Mallard Pop Goal and Impact on Seasons

I know non-resident hunter restrictions are an issue in a number of states, and several provinces. It's a death knell for waterfowling long term, the wave of resident favoring regs will only spread. At least in the US, if I'm elected King, there will be no different regulations permitted for...

Change To Federal Mallard Pop Goal and Impact on Seasons

Only one piece of the puzzle, but I believe it's clear that winter comes later and so do the migrations. Here in CT the duck season ended by early January in the old days. It used to be that ice was common on Thanksgiving and everything froze by mid December, now we're fortunate to see it freeze...

I don't know about this shotgun gizmo.

First thought was April Fools. I guess a day or two late. I like the idea of shaming after blown sucker shots. :) I can't se a shooter learning how to wingshoot with one. It may work under certain conditions, unique to each size sight, but shotgun shooting is pointing not aiming. A big sight...

    Grumman Sport Boat--HP recommendation?

Never really thought about a sportboat before. This thread has me looking. Looking almost always ends in new toys. Nobody tell my wife I'm looking. :) That quote is my way of thinking. For hp, if you need more to go farther faster, get a bigger boat and a bigger motor and stay safe.

    It Happened Again!

Very frustrating Eric. Had it happen a couple of times. Only once did I get any satisfaction, myself and a friend booked rooms in a hotel in San Antonio within minutes of each other. A short time later the fraud line alerted us to expensive purchases, destined for our homes in Bangladesh...

Weapon for Shooting Beaver at Night

I've never used those loads. My birdfeeder squirrel medicine is CB caps through an old Winchester bolt action with a long barrel (for a .22). Very quiet, enough so that it's difficult to hear on the other side of the house. I'm enjoying this thread. Suppressors are great, what little experience...
