    Wader update

Hip boots are something you don,t see much in use in the water fowling world now adays. Few years back I was in the MKT. for a new pair actually for wearing deer hunting to access a swamp stand . First stop was Cabela,s online for their old super mag/brush buster style neoprene only to find...

    Waders - The usual question

Have you ever thought that maybe all the chinese waders are made in the same factory? Especially when price point is close on the American mkt .whomever is branding them. Whether it be Drake, Banded , Avery or Tidewe, etc.

    neoprene jackets

If you want to stay dry the Delta Wading Jkt. by Sitka will do it. No insulation though so consider that but wind also doesn,t get thru it.

    neoprene jackets

They,ve been around for years but have faded from the catalogs in probably last 10 or so, maybe more. Main complaint I recall was they wouldn,t breath and thus sweat you bad with any exertion same as Neoprene waders would thus trapping in dampness in cold weather.

    Building a Gunning Coffin

Would,t say a 3" crown to center of covered deck alleviate the tight boot fit ? This allowing for feet to stay pointed up. I understand it starts to complicate build requiring ribs under decking for support.

Input on two possible boat blind ideas

Are you wanting sit up on stool blind ideas as compared to layout blind ideas.? Personally I would build my sit on stool blind so I could enter/exit across bow with blind up. That requires a blind that allows about a foot separation at bow deck of your uprights running to blind wall, not the...

    Waders - The usual question

If I recall correctly Kobuk is the company that Cabelas waders were made by. Thier breathable's are the exact same as Kobuks current offering last time I checked.

    Building a Gunning Coffin

Although I like the idea an appearance of an enclosed deck over ones lower half when laid out gunnin the bx needs to be built with enough height and deck crown for big booted feet so one doesn,t have to be uncomfortable with splayed out legs during hunt. I,m assuming with the way your design...

    Waders - The usual question

Whew! I haven't looked at their pricing in about 4 years. Their less than an hr. from me and at the time I was going to go down and try on a pair to get best fit but ended up buying a pair of Frog Togs on real good sale instead. This will be my 5th season with the Frog Togs and no leaks yet and...

    Waders - The usual question

Company name HighnDry on eastern Shore of Virginia is suppose to be making a tough breathable non insulated wader. Company is off shoot of commercial clam operators needing longer lasting waders for in water work from what i,ve seen. People who've bought them seem to like them. For breathable...

    My new boat blind

Custom dyeing rafia is the way to go . I've actually redyed some from JSterns when color I ordered wasn't up to my standards. This will probably be the first season I haven't dyed some for boat blind use. Big crab steamer is what I use over propane burner.

    My new boat blind

You can,t hardly break the stuff trying to. Rolling won,t hurt it.

    My new boat blind

Blind grass rolls as easily as a heavily rafia grassed blind does. I use a mix of rafia and blind grass on 2 different boat blinds that roll to each side and store along gunnels. No issues.

    My new boat blind

If your using artificial Blind Grass bundles is the way to go. Won,t be cheap but consider it will basically last forever . Rafia is alright but as mentioned it gets heavy when wet and needs to be dried out or mildew will cause it to basically rot away. Either can be threaded thru your grass...

    What’s on your workbench? August

I've had my wife sew up at least 5 different boat blinds from cordura and nylon strapping for brush loops thru the years. She doesn't gripe to much till it comes to sewing on the grassing loops. Home machines require a good bit of patience and of course the right gauge sharp needle. And...
