If funds are limited try Quack Decoys. They are rubber. I have a dozen of them. I ordered three different heads for the dozen so I can use them for different ducks. Black ducks, Scoters and Brant. I have one dozen magnum bodies that I can switch around for what ever I want. They...

I have use Hevi Shot a lot. I like 6's early season. I have killed everything from ducks to geese with them. Distance doesn't seem to be a problem with hevi shot but I also shoot a lot of sporting clays so practice probably helps. I switch to #4 later in the season ( now). Patterning...

Thanks for the info.. also love your article about River in Waterfowl Magazine. Your definitely living the dream doing all that waterfowl hunting and writing about it. Someday!
Thanks
Pete
What size motor do you have on it? I saw one of these boats 3 years ago at the waterfowl festival in easton md. It seemed solid. Also can it go in shallow water?
thanks for the info
I am looking for a good boat for just me and the dog? Sneak boat. What is a good boat? Classic Barnegat? David E Clark Boat? Zack Taylor ? I would be hunting in tidal water with some occasional open water? I have no patience or skills to make a boat like many people have on this site. Just...

I hunt the Delaware Bay which can get real rough. I have a 20 Xpress Mod V with 115 Yamaha. It is very rugged but on those really rough days you can get pounded. I have had several boats, 16 V bottom and 23 parker. Both worked great. I still think a V bottom boat works best for rough...
Thank you all for your kind words. Michael was very excited to see himself on this website. He said thanks for all your comments. Someone asked about boat pictures. I will post when I get back from vacation.... 20' Xpress Jon with a 115 yamaha.. Beast of open water...
Frank,
I do a lot of hunting in the Delaware Bay. It gets pretty rough at times. Very open areas. I just got a 20' Express Jon Boat. It is very heavy, rides good thru the rought stuff. It has a pretty big motor 115 but with a few guys and all the seaduck decoys and junk we bring it seems...
We had a lot of first today. Son's first black duck, First time in new boat, dogs first retrieve off a boat in open deep water. We had a great morning on the Delaware Bay. Mixed bag, black ducks, buffy's, merganser.

Eric,
I have owned the exact boat, mine was a side steering model. i had a 40 yamaha and it was perfect boat. I can kick myself every day for getting rid of it. It ran 33mph with 2 of us. Fast enough. I used mine in the Delaware bay most of the time. I think when your hauling 3 people and...
In Delaware its legal. I have done it, lots of fun. You need some decoys and a crow call and very good cover or camo. They can see really well. Go to Crowbusters.com that site has a lot of info on hunting them. June thru March THurs Friday and Saturday only.
thanks for all the help. i have a parker, i will just keep it. i was worried about ducks not coming in to the big white boatbut they are pretty stupid. We shoot at them and they come right back.
I have looked at them in person. Nice boats. I did not see a USCG approval label on them but they might be. One thing when I asked about delivery time, i was told 8-9 month wait. That was back last Feb. So maybe sooner? They looked very well built. Sturdy etc. Lots of room.
Does anyone use a skiff for hunting? I am looking at a carolina or sundance skiff and would like to here if anyone has experience with one of these boats. It would be mainly used for open water Seaduck hunting and tidal rivers, shallow water. I am concerned that the large flat bottow will beat...
