    Camoflaging an outboard?

When I bought my new motor, my friend encouraged me to paint it. IMO, you bought it to hunt, make it hunt. Worry about selling it later. I used Rustoleum's Camoflauge colors. I started with khaki for a base, then went over it with green, and filled in with brown to darken it up a bit...

So you want to duck hunt----

Hey guys, I was in the business of pond/wetland mgmt for approx 8 years until I underwent a career change. I sprayed/removed more cattails and phragmites than i care to think about. To keep it simple, my advice is to spray your target species with an AQUATIC APPROVED herbicide before...

    mounting garboard drain plug

If you're sloppy with 5200 like I am - they make it in black for what it's worth. I tend to be a mess with the stuff, because I'm one of those "more is better types." You usually have to order it, but the black ends up looking better and is more in line with our needs. Cheers! Kev

    camo your boat--yes or no??????

I have been a Petit Dull Dead Grass loyalist for the last 10 years... Until now. I used Lou's FME on my new boat this year and the brown color I chose (I think it's Marsh Brown) blends perfectly with all the embankments. Grassed on top and she's good to go. I agree with the the notion that...

    Thank you Massachusetts

As the others have said, thank you Mass! It looks like the MA residents actually have a chance to keep their guns!!!

    Brant in New Jersey

This is a takeoff of a similar recipe I read on here last year, but it'll work just as well. -Prepare crockpot with onions, carrots, potatoes, celery, fresh garlic, and a red wine base for simmering and cook on low for approx 2 to 4 hours. -Remove from crockpot, place in dog bowl, and...

    LONG LINE CLIPS

I use these clips on my decoys and clip them to individual weights when I put them out - that way, the weights don't beat the decoys up. I had a couple clips where the swivel would slide up and my solution was to put a small black zip tie around the the clip where the swivel sneaks through...

    Wildfowl Magazine Decision

Like a lot of you, I find myself reading the internet and not the magazines. I've let a lot of my subscriptions lapse, but the one I still do enjoy leafing through is Gun Dog Magazine. I enjoy the articles from James Spencer - and what I consider to be an everyday Joe, witty, writing style he...

    Where did the water go?

I know where your water is... It's been falling on those of us who live along the mid-atlantic. It seems like it rains an inch or two every other day. Fields are so flooded that there are still a lot of soybean fields yet to be cut. I complained about the drought for the last four or five...

    25hp 2-stroke johnson help needed

For some reason, I'm keying on the 'hard shifting' part of your description. I'm wondering if you had a lower unit failure, which is causing your other problems. Is it still hard shifting, or about as smooth as always? If it doesn't feel right - check under the hood. Any issues that...

    Broadbill Motor

Oops... I may have made a mistake here, which is common for me. My buddy and I have the Clark Craft 14' Broadbill kit - it's rated for a 20hp. I'm guessing my earlier post was of no value. Sorry about that.

    Broadbill Motor

My buddy has a 9.9 Nissan on his, I put a 20 Honda on mine. If I recall, his pushed the boat along at 16mph with a load on the GPS. I get about 25 (gps) out of mine under load. Like you said, you're not going far, so I think the 9.9 would be a decent choice, especially considering...

    Marine plywood source?

Looks like you got some good advice - one other place I would suggest would be Hammond Lumber in Belgrade - My brother in law swears by them, but I can't speak for their marine ply inventory. Google Maps has them about 11 miles north of Augusta. Just thought I'd leave a fallback if another...

    UV Brighteners in Detergent

I am a scent maniac with respect to deer hunting. (Although, so far this season for some reason, my buddy and I are breaking all our scent rules and the deer couldn't care less.) I guess if I actually washed my duck hunting stuff, I'd use the same detergent - In fact, I think you've just...

How do you feel about big game hunting? How has bird hunting changed that?

At the moment, I'm loving deer hunting... I sorta just quit my job because it was getting in the way of hunting. It's a long story, but for today, I chose deer hunting at 3:00 over working late. Duck hunting in DE sucks... there's a lot of hunting pressure and most hunters swear theyr'e the...

    Grass Rail material

My boat has white oak for grass rails that were epoxied over... I haven't had a problem to date with regular traffic from bank, to bow, to cockpit. I'm not sure how much bend you'll need, but here's a pic for reference:

    Decoy broken neck

What about a good wood glue? I used "Titebond II" to quiet a creeky step, and it's worked wonderfully. My brother in law is very talented carpenter/woodworker and swears by the stuff. Maybe someone else has some advice to the contrary, it's just a thought... Good luck.
