Another old boat...

Since my dad died I still deer hunt with his old deer hunting buddy. I stopped by his place today to let him know I received my deer permits and just chat a bit about the upcoming season. Anyway out of the blue he asked if I remembered the boat he bought from my dad. He says he's not going to use it and it's been sitting in his shop for the past 20 years and I should come and get it if I want it. I was floored. The boat's not much, but it was my dad's first brand new boat. It's a 16' Starcraft deep V bottom fishing boat with a 25 hp Evinrude but growing up I helped put a lot of blood in that boat hunting and fishing with my dad. I saw the boat about 10 years ago and it was still in good shape. I can't believe it's coming back to the family. There were many trips to the North Woods of Wisconsin and Minnesota to Table Rock lake in Missouri and Lake Norfolk in Arkansas. It will be interesting to see if it still floats!

Nice to get your hands on that one with or without history. "Love it when a plan comes together". Pretty soon you will be so boat poor you can declare boat bankrupcy, join the club. Post a pic when you get a chance.

Congradulations on the new old boat. I Just picked up a 14 foot starcraft in the same way. My father had bought it when my grandfathers goose hunting club disbanded. He sold it about 25 years ago and it went through two more owners. I got it back when the latest owner was finalizing a divorce and needed to get rid of it. It had been left outside but the hull is in good shape with the rivets intact, so I am now repainting it and getting ready to build new bunch seats for it. Those old starcrafts are great boats, and can handel almost anything that gets thrown at them.
