canoes

came up with a possible hunt boat combo just curious if any one has done it yet. Old town predator canoe with a mud moter probably a long tail any thoughts greatly appreciated

I would be real afraid that setup would tip over the first time out, but that is just me. Mudmotors are a lot of weight high on the transom like that.

I wouldn't recommend it either. I run a 5hp Briggs and Stratton on mine and do well to keep it balanced. The long shaft of the mud motor would make the balance problem even worse and tight turns would be impossible. The 5hp Briggs and Statton with an extension is a better bet. Also, if you run shallow water and a lot of weeds, get the short shaft and sharpen your prop blades with a file. Experience is the best teacher... Pat

I've got an 'Armstrong' brand "MudBuddy" that works great in canoes. They come in many shapes and sizes, some are better balanced for use in canoes than others. Fuel is cheap and clean, with very little noise. Mine is reliable, but I have heard of others who have had issues... :)

Do't do it! I bought a momarsh fatboy dp last year and put a new beavertail 6 hp on it. I ran up on a floating log coming in one evening, the bow went up the stern went down and took on water. I sank her.I've heard claims of carrying a hunter (200 lbs plus) a lab and 6 doz. decoys,... safely?????
I'm back to a jon boat. Just my 2 cents.
I agree with the armstrong mudmotor for a canoe!
