Ed L. & Others: Boat Light Setup

Ed had inquired about how I rigged the lights on my jon boat (he has the same boat).
Well, here is what I did, in pictures. Basically, I used rubber light clips to hold the poles for the stern and bow lights. I bought lights with the longest poles I could find, cut the socket end off & hard wired them. A fused switch on my battery box turns them on & off. This system has worked great for over 6 years. The nice thing is if you hit the dock or something else, the lights simply get knocked down instead of breaking the poles.

Carl,

I knew exactly what you did from your post. I did the same thing to mine last night. Works great. The only thing I did different was I don't have a switch. I used a 4 wire trailer light wiring kit (since I had one laying around). I just plug the thing together when I need lights. I did put a 2 wire connector on the bow light so I can unplug it and put it in the center seat well out of the way.

Thanks for the pictures.
