Father's Day Service

Every year at the Father's Day church service I would walk in thinking "hey, Michelle is going to get a sermon about how special we husbands are and she'll give extra pause to appreciate what I do." Don't get me wrong, she does. However I've given up on that being the Father's Day message. For some reason every Mother's Day our minister raves about wives and how we are to love them as Jesus loves the church. Do we get that same sort of adoration on Father's day? NOPE. We get lectured about the responsibilites and commitments of being a father. They get to feel good and we get beat about the head and shoulders with expectations and duty. Not complaining, but that's just the way it is. Funny how the two days that seem to have a similar basis are cast is such different light.

Yes yes yes, Thank you Eric for pointing this out! Let this be the first day of revolt! As Fathers we should expect, no demand the proper respect! This has been going on for too many years now and we men are sliding down a slippery slope. Why just think, next thing ya know we'll have some woman running for president.



Does this mean I still get to go the dinner my daughter is making for me today, after I enjoy the morning fishing with a friend? If not, I take back what I said. hehe

Ahh....Eric, God knows what WE need. I have to work today but was able to attend most of the church service before work started. Part ot hte message came from 2 Corinthians. The part that has stuck with me is where Paul is thankful for the thorny reminder. 2 Corinthians 8 ... For when I am weak, then I am strong.

God bless all you fathers today! May you honor your father and be the father to your children that they need.

And to top it off I just grilled the best steak and shrimp dinner I've ever made. Then I took the dog out for a boat ride! NO..not my wife. My lab, Gus....hehe. The wife made me some great chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast with bacon and eggs and my son loaded the entire last season of my favortie tv show (which I didn't get to see) on my Palm Pilot so I can have something to do during boring meetings and lunch so I decided I'd do supper....

Fathers Day was great. My son built me a new computer. Mother board with duo processors,new hard drive, new video card.more memory. The thing just roars. Of course I had to drive 1000+ miles to Alanta to get it. Then fathers are expected to pay for it. It's nice he knows things I don't.
