Harli plumage: when is it in?

I would like to go back to Southeast Alaska for a Harli hunt. The season is from Sept 1 through Dec. 16. Is September too early for full plumage? I know it would be too early around here for puddle ducks.

mid-October and they are nice by that time. Can't say about September because while I've seen them at that time of the year I've never held one and can't tell you if they still have pinfeathers which will make anything you do with them from a mount standpoint "lumpy" if they are present....

Thats the best I can offer....

Out of Petersburg that is where I am from. Yet, I never did hunt them when I was there.

Well if you want to add a shoot in Whitehorse to your plans let me know. The last two weeks in Oct can be hot GE action on the river. I realize Petersburg is a long way from Whitehorse still, but if you have to come up this way you are invited.

Thanks, but It would be a pretty big side trip. I would need to take the ferry to Skagway then drive up from there. I would be a great adventure though.
