That's just amazing about the water up there. Hope you get what you need before duck season. Maybe it'll get low enough through the summer to get some grasses and food up in those potholes, though...keep the ducks around. Or you could go out and accidentally spill millet and buckwheat...whoops...silly me...
Was sorry to see you had issues with the boat, too...that's definitely one of those "well....sh##" moments. Is she still up and running?
Also, speaking of the Andalusia chain, I was going through some old boxes a while back and found an odd envelope. Looked inside, and it was Dad's old maps of Andalusia with the blind sites...different blinds circled, lists of blind choices for the draw, etc. I don't guess much has changed, except the water levels...
Not much new down here - still waiting for the river to go down. Was supposed to crest out this week upriver from us at 235,000 cubic feet per second; normal flow is 25,000 cfs. I'd send it to you if I could; actually I wish we could parcel this out and get enough during duck season to get the rivers out of their banks and keep all of the fields/low spots flooded.
Been doing a little carving, trying to catch up on all the projects going at once, and I will tell you that an air conditioned shop is a godsend. The way I ripped a knuckle with the Foredom the other day, I figure in 100 years they'll be able to tell it's one of my decoys by carving style, materials, paint, and DNA. Great tool, but boy, does it bite when you aren't focused. Thank God for sawdust to absorb blood and pack the wound so I can keep going.
