I was getting ready to ship it and just coulndt do it................... It was not an appropriate call for a young lady to big and bulky. So I started a new one for her, made with a young lady in mind and I think easier to blow for smaller lungs than the other one. This one also has the O-ring on the insert that I am now using and its a HI Gloss clear sanded smoothe and buffed with treewax. I can get about a 35 note hail on it with full lungs :) very easy to blow and made for a smaller hand. Denise my wife really liked it also. Its the SAME kinds of woods so its a perty still. I hope this was ok I just wanted to get her a call that will work for her to play with now and learn on someday latter on.

Its ok dave thanks for making it easier for her.Dave ill buy the other one then we will have a matchin set ,Makayla asked if her name was gonna be on hers i said i didnt know honey but i will ask the nice man who made it for you?.

She made me so proud yesterday when i got home from work she asks me dad can we go on the wheeler and go rabbit huntin??Gotta tell ya guys when you have a little gurlyly gurl most of the time around the house ,I prety near had tears running down my face ,My reply yes honey as fast as we can get our snowsuits on were going rabbit huntin.seen 2 but they were long gone ,she asked if she was making to much noise i said no honey your alot better this time ,we just went for an hour she loved and couldnt wait to tell mum about the big buck and his rub we found...
 
Shady, sweet lookin' call man. Shermie, I have a soon to be 5 yr. old girl, that is head over heels about huntin', and fishin'. She still plays w/dolls and all, they even come w/some times, but as soon as the wkend hits, she's askin' to go huntin', or fishin'. Goin' out ice fishin' tomorrow.

Shady, how's that dog doin' for that lady that works w/ya? I keep forgettin' to ask on the other forums. Them pups turned out real nice.

Lance hows things? molly is doing well for them a very very nice pup. She is spoiled rotten and a tall gal. The only problems they had was after 8 months she went thru food issues and finnal got one that works that molly could keep down. was strange and who knows why.... I think hey have her on the royal canin now and no more problems. She is well loved in that home thats for sure.

Told makayla this am while readin your post that im getting one too ,She says but mine has maple burl right and your doesnt ??lolol i told we have a matching set and hers was especialy made by Dave for you to hold and blow because your little lungs cant blow the bigger grown up calls.

say thanks from me to Dave ,dad cuz i only got little lungs right now and when i get big ill will use dadies call .....lol
 
They are headed to the post office today to get out of the cold and enter the FREEZER!

I think I have found the finish that I like its a CLEAR HI-GLOSS about 4 coats​
then I scuff it with gray scotch brite and Tree Wax it back to a sheen. It really smooths the​
call out and looks nice. The hi-gloss just always looks cheap on maple burl to me.​

I did make a few changes to the big call. I actualy put it back on the lathe scrpaed off all of the clear and​
then turned the bbl down just a lil bit and starting sanding with 50 grit up to 600. I like it better now and the​
insert is a better fit and I think looks nice. They both have a different sound, It is louder than the lil one​
but I almost like the tone of the other one quite a bit and will be making a few tone boards like it and see what happens.​
Shorter reed and shorter open tone channel as well as a much smaller bore tot he bell end.​
