How come you sent that spike buck from your back yard down here?
I went down to the pond a few minutes ago to move the sprinkler, as I crossed the dam on the ATV I see this guy drinking down on the lower pond island.
It was nice of him to pose for me. One spike is shorter than the other. Judy and I both got drawn (LOP tags:^) for our annual "late season, in the RUT" either sex muzzleloader tags. And we have had some nice big 4X4's, 3X3's and forkies here on the place. Judy said she saw a really big buck just inside the Cemetary gate across from our north gate. But we always seem to see them in the summertime.
I put another dose of aquatic herbacide on those pond weeds this morning. That first dose a few weeks ago was not enough to really knock them down.
You can see the upper food plot wheat drying out well in the background. By the looks of my "pond Rock", it's about time I thow the hose in the pond for a week to top it off again. It's down about 10".
Lools like the last of the snow is almost gone atop 7,200 ft. Greyback Mountain south of us. It is usually gone by 4th of July anyway. It will be blackberry picking time pretty soon. We are already eating some from our garden that is an early type of cross bettwen a blackberry and a red rasberry.
The wheat in the lower food plot is about ready too. No lack of feed for the doves, quail, ducks and geese this year.
BTW I talked with Rick Ketcham last nite and he said they are catching those giant squid all over his area down there. They had a huge run of them back in '96 and guys were even catching them off the Ventura pier. Calamari Hraven right now.
