It has just begun

At 2:28AM I was awakened to much squealing. I rushed into the office and have been here ever since. Salsa had her first pup, which was a black male.

Just 5 minutes ago, 5:30AM, she gave birth to a chocolate male.

Last year when she had her second litter, it took her 12 hours and 15 minutes to deliver them all.

I'll keep you in touch with how she is doing. Habi found a comfortable spot to curl up.

Thanks, Scott. Salsa has now delivered 5. Looks like 3 blacks and 2 chocolates so far.

Could be a hectic day because I have to go to Albuquerque to pick up my wife at the airport in 3 1/2 hours. Thank goodness she is on her way----I need help!
I hired a puppy sitter (former student 12 years ago) so all will be under control while I'm gone. Her folks used to raise labs and this pre-med student knows what to do.

Chaco is the proud papa! Salsa ended up with 6 blacks and 3 chocolates. As you can see, she is one tuckered out girl.

What a beautiful way to end what has been a very trying year for a lot of people. Gives a person hope for a better 2013. I hope you all are doing well.
