Lacrosse get together

Just a quick note to the guys coming to Lacrosse Saturday June 30th. I know that Rick Kyte will be bringing some of his hand tied trout flies to share with others and I plan to bring some thing to trade back to Rick for a few flies. It just occurred to me that we could make this a mini swap meet among ourselves. I've got a couple calls I might be talked in to trading and I'll bring along some hand made and store bought fishing items too. So bring along what you want to trade next Saturday. Who knows, we may all go home with some new junk, err, I mean toys. Most any hunting or fishing item should be of some interest to the others.

Hey another thought as I was typing this (scary ain't it???) Look thru your prized possessions for any one item you want to trade, sight unseen. Put it in a sealed paper bag. We'll put all the bags in a pile and sometime when most everyone is there, we'll randomly hand them out to those that put one in. Lets go for a value on the item not to exceed twenty dollars. No minimum value ,but item should be ok and in working order (not a gag gift). If you choose not to join in the blind bag exchange thats ok , no problem.

Rick, What time of day should we start showing up? Will we setup near or at the same spot as last year?

Right you are Andrew, thanks for catching that . I went back and edited my mistake. I knew July 1st was Sunday and must've had "July" stuck on the brain when I wrote July 30th.

Dave, Wonderful idea, I am planning to bring some extra stuff and would be interested in doing some trading. I may come down on Fri., plans still kinda in the air. See you there.

Dave,

Sounds like fun. I have a few swap things in mind. Vickie and I took Friday off so we're planning on being there Friday afternoon. The last I heard from Rick was noon for getting together. He did say something about being closer to the action so I'm not sure we're going to be in the same place.

See you there.

Where exactly is it in LaCrosse. I should be there around 12:00pm Fri unless I have a big breakfast on the road.

I'm really looking forward to this gathering. I know the address was posted before, but as they say, I'm old enough to hide my own Easter eggs.

Brice prairie map

This will take you to a Mapquest map of the area, zoom in or out as needed.

The red star is slightly out of position. The area will will be going to, is the green shaded area adjacent to the area labeled "boat ramp" on road ZB.

Tom,

I managed to get the flatbottom out for a while today and it seems to have a idling problem. Runs great at half thottle and above but idles for a minute or two and peters out. Then it's hard to start. I think it's flooding. If I give it a minute of two it'll fire right back up.

Sometime back you mentioned you had a carb rebuild kit for a Johnson 9.5. If you still have it and if you think to bring it with you next Saturday to the get together I'll be happy to take it off your hands.

Thanks. See ya next week.

Ed L.

Dave, What I know I have for sure is a whole carb and you probably don't need(want) that. Bring the motoer along and I will take a look see.

Dave,

Thanks for getting the reminder out for the LaCrosse get together. I've been out of town (fishing) the past few days.

Great idea for the swap. I'll have to get some more flies tied this week!

Ed's right about the meeting time: I'm planning to get there around noon. Any time after that is fine.

Directions:
The mapquest map will get you close, but the park is actually on ZB. Drive north through Onalaska on Hwy 35. Go past the giant sunfish near Lake Onalaska (on your left), turn left on Z. Continue until you come to ZB, turn left and follow until you see the park on your right. There should be signs out on the road directing you where to go.

Last year we were right next to the tennis courts. This year they're putting us in another location in the park, but I'm not sure exactly where that is. It's in the same general area. (Anybody who can't find it has no business boating to a duckblind in the dark.)

I'll shoot everyone a PM with my cell phone number in case someone needs last minute directions.

One other thing: I know some guys are planning to stay over Saturday evening: Ed, Pete, Mark--anyone else? I'd be happy to grill up some steaks at my house for supper.

Rick:
Got my motor home ready to travel to LaCrosse this weekend to join you guys but got a call from my sister in LaCrosse. Her husband was in the hospital in critical condition so we hopped into the motor home and headed to LaCrosse in a driving rain friday. He is home to spend his last days so we were able to spend time with him. Got a chance to visit all the old places-Pettibone Beach that I ran for four years 46 to50 -the swimming pool at the college where I was the first life guard--the collegel--the cemetary where my folks are buried and even to the top of Grand dad's bluff in the driving rain. But that weekkend killed any chance of joining all you guys this weekend for me. Have a good time and say hello to all those old farts for me. Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your brother-in-law. Sorry we're going to miss you but we'll all hookup again sometime I'm sure.

Take care.

Ed

Rick,

STEAKS?.......You can count us in!!!!!! I'll bring beer.

What else do you want us to bring?

See you then.

Ed L.

Tom,

Thanks for the offer of looking at the motor. I called the shop and since they warrant their work I just dropped it off on my way to work.

Besides, I hate to be the one that wrecks a perfectly good beer drinking afternoon with a repair job!!!

See you then.

Ed L.

Wis Boz,

I'm sorry you won't be able to able to join us. I was looking forward to meeting you.

We live 2 blocks away from the pool at the university--it's the one my kids use just about every day. I'll think about it differently now knowing that you are an important part of the history of that place.

Rick

Rick, I certainly am not driving home Sat night, planned to sleep in the truck. Won't turn down a steak. Can I bring something for the good of the order??

Rick,

You can count me in. Anything else I can bring? How about a couple packages of Caesar Salad mix with all the fixins? Not quite the same as home made but they're not bad.

Just to confirm, we are all meeting at the park at about noon on Saturday - correct? I think I saw some guys getting to the area on Friday - is there a get together on Friday that I didn't catch?

Looking forward to all the new faces.

Pete
