Just finished up knocking out a cradle to haul our UFO on the Hellcat. About an hour's worth of work, some scrap 2x and some marine carpet. Figure there are some of you out there contemplating how to build one so I thought I'd post up.
First off I needed it to strap down lengthwise with the boat while trailering and perpendicular to the boat while motoring out.
Here's the shot of the cradle itself...
We'll be pulling the boat over the bow and I really didn't want it resting on bow light as it came up, so my initial thought was to attach some casters upside down, but didn't really want casters on the boat year round. So I incorporated them into the eyebolt for the strap at the front of the boat.
Here are the threaded inserts for the 3/8" eyebolt...

One of the brackets attached on both sides...
U-bolt at the rear of the cradle...
Here's with the UFO in place perpendicular to the boat...
And finally strapped down for trailering...
