Lund Alaskan or what else?

Would like to have a Lund alaskan to use mainly for fishing/late duck hunting in the mid west but I can't afford a new boat and finding a used one seems tough so I was wondering if any other boat makers will get me close to the type of boat like the newer alaskan models?

I think the Crestliner Canadian boats are "similar" to the Alaskan. Not sure if they are much less $$$ though.

If your budget is a lot less, there are a number of older aluminum boats that can be made servicable. I had a great old starcraft v hull that was nice.

A used alaskan is worth waiting for in my opinion. If you look at boat dealers in Minnesota they seem to have most of them...

Look on the west coast for a welded alloy boat. You can get used alumawelds, duckworth and similar welded boats for the same or cheaper price of a lund alaskan. I would search for some of the following makers: duckworth, hewescraft, wooldridge, jetcraft, customweld, northriver, thunderjet and fishrite....
Many of the welded alloy builders have entry level boats that might be worth a look in the 16-18 foot range (new) that might be worht a look. Search Oregon, CA, Washington or Idaho - craigs list and boat trader.
