Nice afternoon teal hunt

My pups 4th hunt, buddy and I managed to get on some real this afternoon. It wasn't a barrel burner, but nice steady action for 2.5 hours straight. Singles and pairs came gliding into the decoys with feet dragging the water. It was a great site to see with the beautiful Florida sunset to our backs, lighting the birds up in front of us. A awesome hunt with a "new" good friend and my furry hunting buddy.

I've never taken a blue wing in full plummedge, very nice!

I'll be in Florida this week. I never think to arrange a hunt!

That's a shame Kevin. Right now their beautiful, I shot plenty that would look nice on the wall. Next time you will have to get something planned.

Nice work Jake! By both you and your pup! Love bluewings!!! Any ringnecks around? Pat

They are around pat, not in that paticular spot but plenty of surrounding places have them. Right now the wigeon are in pretty thick. We had a small flock work the outside of our spread then went out

Very nice!
Is it as bottomless and muddy as it looks or is there a relatively hard bottom there?

Neat.
All our "teal holes" are small natural bays with bottom-less muck. Ok if you have a mud motor but unless its a higher than normal tide, I avoid them!

Beautiful bluewings, btw.

I always wondered why the decoy companies sold drake blue decoys, now I know. I have never seen a fully colored blue wing drake during hunting season. My teal spread consists of all hen decoys that I purchased years ago while working for Flambeau. No one was making early season teal decoys back then. If we had a spring season drake decoys would work well.
