So this is where I'm at with the 13ft 87 Gheenoe. I'm currently unemployed so funds for materials have been limited. Hence why I'm only this far along. Orbital sander caught fire as well so been doing it by hand. Any help/ advice is greatly appreciated. I got a big folded piece of 1708 another big folded piece of csm. I'm using polyester resin by total boat works.

The missing sections are not that bad to repair. If it were me I'd put some wax paper down the keel adjacent to the damaged areas and then I'd apply glass and resin over the wax paper. Essentially this is making a copy of the keel. Once cured I'd remove the wax paper and trim the fiberglass to fit the damage area but leaving a good size border on the patch. I'd then glass the patch to the hull. After that was done on all the damaged areas I'd flip the hull and build up the inside of the hull in the damaged areas. I know you said you were using polyester but if there is any way you can swing epoxy go that route. Polyester doesn't bond very well to cured surfaces. If you can't swing epoxy be sure to sand the repair area very well and clean them with a solvent like vm&p naphtha or acetone to prep the surface.

Thanks for the response. I honestly can't afford the epoxy right now. If it is absolutely necessary I can continue to wait it out until I can grab some in a couple weeks once I handle the bills. I was under the impression that poly would be fine, but I don't know anything this is my first time ever doing anything like this. Thanks again for the help I really appreciate it
