Quick trip to the dakotas

Dad and I made a quick trip to North Dakota to hunt pheasants with a good friend who has some great ground to hunt on.

Dad is 84 this year and still loves to get out and hunt, he made several great shots on some high flying roosters that we had pushed towards him on some fence rows and hedges.

Due to a required weekly trip to a clinic at home for a leg injury dad got while riding his ATV this summer we only hunted three days then headed back home.

Fred,
What a great hunt for your father. I sure am happy that the two of you had such a good time.

Enjoyed your post. Kudos to your 84 year old dad. We octogenarians have to stay active and just because we're old doesn't mean we can't shoot. :-)

Thanks guys , yep Dad is a real trooper, he never complains about anything even while dealing with arthritis issues and then cutting his leg bad on his quad last summer. I'll keep taking him as long as he wants to go, my buddy John and his wife take good care of us while we are there, great friends like that are hard to find.

John is an avid duck hunter having taken all species of ducks in North America you can hunt. I met him on a hunt about 8 years ago when he came out to hunt Cans and Redheads with we have been great friends ever since.

Hope everyone is having good hunts and safe season.

Great shot Fred. Your dad looks like he had a great time and should be an inspiration to us all. I play tennis 3 mornings a week with several gentlemen in their 70's and up to 89 and they are something to see. They may not have the mobility they once had, but the love of the game is still there. One of them told me yesterday that "you don't get too old to do the things you love, you get too old when you stop doing them." Hope to see shots of you and your dad's hunt next year.

Obviously you get your perpensity to smile from your mother's side. Tell your dad "good going!". My pop harvested his second buck of the season last week...not bad for an 82 year old with a crossbow.

Best

It looks like you guys managed to "scratch down a few"
It is great to see someone out there that has nearly twice as much time under the belt than I do, still tearing it up.
