Redneck solution to slip proof decks.

Should have gone for the "yacht finish": architectural shingles.....

Confession: As the "last act of a desperate man", I once patched a tin boat with Ice & Water Shield....good for 2 or 3 seasons on my fish pond!

While we're on the subject, I'm told this is an Aurthur Armstrong. Can some one tell me what flavor? It's 13 feet long and the beam is 55 inches.

If you go to lowe's or Home depot they have starter strip shingles in a roll . Its about 10 inches wide and 12 ft long I think.
The back peels off and sticks to what ever it comes in contact with. It would work well on a deck. I covered the inside of my tail gate with it for traction so the dogs dont slip jumping in and out of the truck.

I agree it doesn't look factory made because of the rounded deck. I could be wrong though they seemed to have changed somethings through production years.

Howard, I'm really glad you didn't mention the owner by name....Oh crap I think I just let the cat out of the bag.

I'm hoping it will be a lot more seaworthy when it's finished.

I did mention that the owner bought it that way. Just so that he could remain nameless, don't you know?...lol Don't know if it will be more seaworthy, but it'll sure be prettier! Welcome to the site.

Thanks. There's a lot of craftsmen on this site. Maybe I can contribute some machine work projects.
I know the boats in good hands.

I have not seen them on the deck of a boat before, but I will confess to using asphalt shingles on duck blind ramps, shed floorings and underlayment in dog kennels in the very wet Pacific Northwest before. Excellent traction even when wet, very modest cost and easy to replace. Have I gone wrong?
