Remington 700 ADL 30-06

Would anybody know how to find out how much a 1968 or 69 Remington 700 ADL(most likely) 30-06 would be worth? It has never been fired. Would the value be lessened if it was fired? My dad bought it for a bear hunt in Maine the same year it was bought but his hunting partner got married and the trip was cancelled. The trip the following year was also cancelled when my dad got married, then kids arrived and he never got the opportunity to go on the hunt. We live in New Jersey so you can't use rifles to hunt in Jersey so he has never fired the gun. Was wondering about the value since my dad is 70 and just had his 7th heart attack over the weekend and will probably never use the gun...he could probably use the money over a gun on the wall. Thanks in advance for the help.

Still have the box and paperwork? If it isn't all dinged up from handling(rings and rack marks) it's hard to tell what premium a collector may put on it. I would say it's "worth" probably 250-350 and the box may add a 100 for a collector....but they aren't real collectible. Look on Guns America and see what they are going for. Hope your dad is ok.

About $275 to $300 would be fair if the gun is still like new. The 700 ADL was not as fancy as teh 700 BDL, but the difference was all cosmetic, wood, forend tip, checkering, and detachable floorplate made the BDL about $90.00 dollars more than the ADL.

Ofcourse there is another way to look at this...................MOVE TO MONTANA where both the owner and the gun would feel right at home! :^)

Oh yea dad still has the box and the paperwork, he keeps everything. The gun has never seen sunlight..perfect condition...he was released from the hospital a few hours ago..He was happy that he was told he holds the Hospital record for most heart attacks survived with seven...they told him people rarely survive three..He had a five way by-pass in 2003(he had five heart attacks that year). He actually died during the bypass because he had a heart attack as they were finishing up the surgery and had to have one of the grafts replaced again due to the new graft collapsing...The doctor said it took them an hour to get his heart started after replacing the graft the second time..they didn't expect him to survive the first two nights but he was home within 7 days after the surgery...energizer bunny to say the least..one lucky man..thanks Lee.

Glad he is getting out. Sounds like he really doesn't need his heart. I just perused G.A. and the ADL's were anywhere from 250(with scope) to 599. There is a lot of give and take on there...just like a gunshop. I would say get it all on there, or an auction site with the box and everything and put a 375 dollar reserve and see what happens. It's too bad it's not is some oddball caliber or 7mag as those seemed to ask more. I personally would rather have the 30-06. Best of luck to pop.

That is the first gun I ever bought. Mine is about the same vintage, I still use it for deer every season and have taken a couple of black bears with it as well. If you are looking for a buyer, here I am. I would love to get one for my youngest son. Great gun.!!

If you search the Kittery Trading Post website you will see they have a bunch of used ADLs: www.ktpguns.com.

In 1969 Winchester's quality was terrible. My recollection is that Remmingtons were fine. I was the exchange officer on a USCG cutter from 69 to 71 in Kodiak Alaska. I sold a lot of guns. Back then I would think that specific gun had a price to the dealer of around $140. I bought one of the first Ruger M77s in 308 & the dealer price was $120.

I doubt you have a treasure but easy to believe $250 to $400 depending on finding the right buyer. Can you put it on consignment at a local gun store? Should be a good time to sell a deer rifle.
