Sold my Sneakbox and cried....

I had a Bud Miles Sneak box that I just wasnt using enough. I have three boys and I cant justify letting that boat sit around. I now hunt with at least 1 of my boys 9 out of 10 times. I always have a hunting partner. There was just no room and with it being the time of the year it was I felt greedy keeping it all to myself when 1. I need the money and 2. someone else can enjoy it and use it.

I was born in South Jersey and the boat meant alot to me. The only thing that made it a little easier was I sold it to a guy from Maine who had another boat built by Bud and needless to say we spent 3 minutes doing buisness and an Hour and a Half talking about our duck hunting history.

sold my heart but I think it was worth it. Thanks

I've kicked the idea around of selling my Chuck Huff for the last two years. I even posted an ad the other day on this very website to sell it and deleted that ad within 10 minutes of posting it. I re-read the thread where my duckboat fancying friends on here talked me out of selling it last year. Right now I look at this....Which boat on the market fills the light enough to tug or push pole into the weeds, light enough to get out of the weeds, small enough to hide easily, big enough or designed as such to handle some nasty weather, big enough to haul the needed decoys. If there was just one....

oh you are right.... But these atlantic cedar boats go to hell it seems if you dont use them and let them sit... a friend passed away and gave it to me. He would smack me in the face if it did not get used.

When the money comes around again I may get a stealth boat and and mud motor boat to fill all my voids.... By then maybe my wife will be to tired to divorce me.

This is a great thread and speaks to the emotional connection between duck hunters and duck boats... that is, some special duck boats.

I had a MLB Sneakbox Wigeon, basically the Zach Taylor knock off. Everywhere I took it, I got comments. It wasn't the best of the breed but it was a good boat and I felt connected to the history of the sport in that boat. I sold it.. I think because I needed a boat for two or three guys.

In it's place I bought a 14' Starcraft Seafarer which served my purpose but the emotional tie to the boat just isn't there.

Then I had a Hoefgen duck boat, which as Steve Sutton once said, "has the best lines of any duck boat made." It paddled effortlessly and snuck up on creek mallards with deadly grace.

But it is made for small water and I am in big water now. After six years of sitting unused, I sold it.

The only thing worse than selling a good boat is a good boat sitting there unused.

So now I look longingly at Craigslist at boats.

Any of you guys know a therapist for this disease?

:)

I wish I had known you were selling it Larry cause that's
Still one classic boat that I've not owned and wish I had....I honestly don't look too hard for one knowing that if I found one I'd have to pull the trigger on it....

William...at one time I owned five Miles Sneak boxes at one time...Bud made my first one for me and that resulted in several that saw mine buying one from Bud....they are an addiction.....every time imsawmone for sale I bought it...couldn't resist one....had a two bull trailer so I could hunt with someone else without two vehicles...

When it was time to move back to Florida I sold three of the five and would have sold the fourth but ran out of time so ended up bringing two of them to Florida where they lanquish ... suspended from the rafters waiting for me to decide what I want to do with them........none of the places I now hunt are right for them unless I decided to run a small mud motor of them ..... for years I screeched when someone on this site suggested that a long tail would
Be just perfect on them....perhaps it would but I could never, and still can't, bring myself to put dress the Queen in a tow sack....

So they sit waiting for better days....ormfor memto find the proper venue for them.....

Steve,

The PPF WoodDuck mudmotor would be perfect for your Miles boxes. I run one on my Huff box and it's a great motor. It's only 59 lbs with the Predator motor and about 60" long. I sit down and run it with my Huff box.
