Has anyone put a slat type floor in a fatboy? I'm trying to think of something light weight that might keep me and my gun from laying the water that surely will be brought in the boat with me.

When I hunt out of a kayak, I just sit on a throwable cushion and keep one of those big car wash sponges handy. That soaks up water as it enters the boat and a quick squeeze over the side empties it.

Cedar or some old redwood if you can find it laying around. Keep an inch or two between them so you don't have a solid hunk of wood to lift out. Lean it against the boat when you get home so it dries off.
 
I built a slat floor for mine. Used 3/8" cedar slats on stringers cut to fit the shape of the tunnel hull and cut out a 1/2" moon to provide access to the drain plug. the floor is light, flexes somewhat when I stand on it, but keeps me out of the slop. Could not live without it.
 
I made one for my sneakbox but easily could be modified to fit a fatboy or other small duck boat. Im actually thinking about putting one in my 4 rivers...

just 6in cedar, and ripped down one of the boards to make the two "end pieces"

Ed get ahold of Ira and buy the MoMarsh seat that will keep your posterior out of water. After a couple years you won't be so eager to jump back into your layout and will let a little water run off of you. The first year I hunted a layout marsh boat I was soaked all the time. Now I don't get much water at all in my boat and if I do it is sponged out. Position your blind bag outside of your feet on your gun side. Rest the stock on the seat or your lap and it will stay out of the water nicely. Comes in handy lying there when you wake up from a nap to ducks falling in the dekes.

That thing about napping has crossed my mind. I have a decoy bag that turns into a layout blind. I fits perfect in the fatboy. I just know I'm going to get a lot of sleep this year!....;-)

You should mount a trail cam to the bow of your Fat Boy. Then when you wake up you can see what you missed :)

If you can get a hold of some bass wood 1/2" would be thick enough. No silvers you don't want silvers you know where to wake you up. hee hee

I saw a bow hunter one time with a video camera mounted above him while he was on his stand. He somehow had it rigged that when he moved his head the camera moved as well. I always thought that would be cool for getting action video. I wish I would have asked him some questions about it but the look on his face at the time indicated I should continue my trek.

The reason he had that look on his face Ed, must of been that iron rod in his skull that kind of changes your mood.( : )
