to wonder on it all

I worked up on the farm with my buddy Drew this past weekend.
Building fences, running conduit, and minding young dogs
that twist and lap and lick and run.

I came home on sunday PM. My throat hurt.

I took the motorbike up there and back... It ran great.

I had a sore throat, headache, and chills...
My belly sounded like somebody was bowling, somewhere deep in there
My sinuses were blocked up too.

I don't know if I had norovirus or the flu?
Neither one is appreciated.

I took 2 grapefruits and peeled them. Threw the peels into a quart of water and boiled them for 40 minutes slowly.

That is how they make a cure
It worked..
after 3 doses of about 2 oz each throughout 24 hours, I was back to normal.

My farm friend is having issues with his 2 new dogs in a residential area...

On top of the Rottweiler that is already there. He said Cupid is barking all night, and pissing off the neighbors.
I think he needs to understand that those farm dogs are perfectly suited to life on the farm, but not to the burbs.

I went fishing again this morning.
I fished with flies and sinking line and I even brought a 2nd rod.

Floated flies under a bobber... No dice.

I approached my spot before dawn, trying to be quiet.
Then a couple of beavers slapped their tails explosively. I bet they dove into the water half a dozen times.

The guys across the river thought I was lobbing stones into the water...

WTF?
There were a few fish rising, but they refused to commit.
Saw a couple of Bankies and only 1 drift boat.

The water is low, very clear, and pretty cold for this time of year.

I think if we get a blast of rain, that may help bring the fish up.

The Valley canals are being shut off and that may also improve the flow.

I am going to sleep in tomorrow morning.
After fishing hard with multiple methods for the last 2 days.
I don't think there are many fish in that stretch right now...

As I stomped the bank this morning, I saw some dog footprints on the edge.

I could see how the weeds were stomped flat from it.

I remembered how I used to laugh and holler at my old bird dogs that found me at the waters edge so many times.

As the light from the sun found its way to my shoulders at last.

It felt good to hear the morning's flight above me,
and to wonder on it all.

Feel free to post more fall pictures from the River! That one stretch you have there is a beauty.
