Walker/Turner Bandsaw... What's it worth?

I have a Walker/Turner Bandsaw with a 10 1/2 inch depth of cut. Pretty much everything is original and it's in great shape.
Anyone know what a saw like this is worth?

Is this it???

Are you yanking my chain? Does it look like the one below. They made several bandsaws and this is a common one that turns up now and then. Are it's wheel 14" or 16"? Sounds like 16" based on depth of cut. Does it have the original cast iron base? Is the motor original? Single or three phase? Can you get a model # or serial # off it? Is it wood and metal? Can you get pics?

The W-T 16" bandsaw is considered one of the best home shop bandsaws. Cast iron from top to bottom. I'd love to upgrade from my Delta. You selling? Depending on shape I've seen them, off the hip, from $350 to $750 but that sample size is small and condition makes a huge difference.

Josh,
That's exactly what it looks like. It's a 16 inch saw.

Eric,
How would I be yanking your chain?
I can't remember the wheel size. It's all cast iron. As far as I know the motor is original.
Just seeing how much it's worth as I have had lots of folks comment on it and how much they would like to have it.

Are you selling it or are the people who expressed interest just ones who have been at your house and seen it?

If it were me there is no way I'd part with that saw. I don't care what Matus says (he don't shinola about old arn) that bandsaw BLOWS AWAY anything you can buy today and even makes the vintage Delta 14" saws look pale in comparison. The 16" W-T has been featured in Fine WoodWorking articles about machine restoration and gets widespread respect from arn heads.

GREAT SAW!

p.s. The saw Josh posted I believe is the 14". They look a lot alike.

Yes the one I posted is a 14"

Are you selling Lee???? I'm very interested if you are........

I am not selling it as of yet and don't know if I ever will.

I guess you lost me on pretty much all of that second paragraph.

Mine is a 16 inch as I have measured it before. I want to say it's a model 1100, but not sure if that's exactly right. I know the serial number starts with 11.
You are right, it is a great saw. Cuts like a dream.

The base on my saw looks like the base on the saw you posted. However the throat on my saw looks like throat on the saw the Eric posted.

I think I am going to start getting the newspaper in your area. That way I can look in the obituaries for you and Ronnie and hit your estate sales for those bandsaws.

Thanks for the link. Nashville is close enough to bid on machinery if it comes available. I doubt finds like that WT turn up often but I am starting to get a good list of auction sites to keep an eye on. I put that one on the list.

About a month ago I ran across an add in the Birmingham paper for a $200 powermatic tablesaw. I figured it was a Artisan saw but called anyway. Turns out it was a 66! For $200 I would have bought it even though I already have one. The guy had no clue what he had. Said it was in his tool shed for the past 15 years. He didn't sound real thrilled when I told him they typically go for $900-1200 if they run and don't have any issues. When you find a great deal the worst that can happen is you take over your wifes parking space until you turn it loose for a profit or restore it. The old machiney stuff is addictive.

Hey Eric if you see any up my way let me know. I would like to do a nice restoration on a Walker Turner Bandsaw . Do you know what the height is on the 16" saw? Is it as high as the 14 Delta with the height attachment? BTW how is your crew doing? I hope well. Little Hank says to say hi. HHG

They have a 12" capacity like yours and mine Delta but are a much better built machine. The rigidity is phenomenal and are wonderful for resawing and given their 600+ lb frame are very very smooth.

Tell Lil' hank Thomas wants him to join him at Camp Woody. Me and the boys had a great season together. I'll gather some pics and post them soon.

My list of wanted machinery is largely limited by sharing a workshop with my wife's van. If I was in your neighborhood I would have knocked on this fellas door. A shaper is high on my list. I've done the router thing but they just don't have the power I want for making raised panel doors. I used a tablesaw moulding head and that gave me the wants for one like the below.

Someday I'll retire and spend 9 months out of the year working in the shop and three months duckhunting. The sooner I retire the happier I'll be.

Nice shaper. When you start doing panels you need to get the shaper it makes a world of difference. Do you have the article from Fine Woodworking by Vauhn about the bandsaw restoration? I have not read it. Do you have a copy on the PC you could kick to me? Tell Thomas that Littl Hank said hello and he would really love to come to the Woody camp. HHG

I have the article in print at home. I'll have to see if it is online. If not I'll scan it for you. I've had the pleasure of exchanging numerous messages with Mr. Vaughan. His knowledge of machinery is amazing and he has answered a million questions of mine about my Delta bandsaw, Parks planer, recently acquired Powermatic 1150 drill press, and a whole bunch of other stuff too. Super fella. Here are a few of Bob Vaughan's online articles.

Let's keep in touch about the Camp Woody thing. I can't remember the $ figure off the top of my head but recall a weeks fee being quite reasonable.
