Check out military surplus shooting mittens with the thumb and trigger finger. You can buy wool inner mittens to go with them. Sadly, no over the shoulder string attachment to keep you from orphaning them. I have found them on ebay for around $15.
I have always disconnected the fuel line and let the motor stall out as a safeguard against fuel varnishing in the carb even if I intend to use the boat again the next day. Is it a waste of time?? I don't know. It's an old habit for me.

Welcome to the site and good luck this season in your new boat. I envy you. My most memorable hunts have been on Shinnecock, Peconic, Flanders. I love that area and the hunting history that goes with it.
