I've had both the RoughTuff & Gunner, I still have RoughTuff. The Gunner was too big for my new company vehicle. That's the only downfall of the Gunner in my opinion is the inner vs outer dimensions.
They?ll float just fine. Those were carved by Derek Bendell who used to post a lot here. They were made for small water and walk-ins. Since GP has no current, I wouldn?t worry about the line attachment unless you?re swinging them around your head :)
As Steve said, everything but the keel says LL Bean to me. That may be a newer bird... I don't have anything newer than the late '80s and have more than I can hunt so I haven't looked at the new stuff Bean is putting out.
I love wool as a base-layer or an insulating layer and wear it for most outdoor activities from hunting to running...
I've had First Lite, KUIU, IceBreaker & SmartWool.
First Lite - nice, but I got 2 very itchy tops and didn't feel it was as durable for the price
KUIU - very athletic fit not...
I bounce around from gun to gun all season... if I could only have one I'd pick either
Browning Auto 5
or
Benelli M1
Both have served me (and thousands of other hunters) well for decades.
For you folks with the Sugar coats;
Would one of you be so kind as to take a picture with it laid flat and include some measurements? I think I could make one out of an old surplus wool blanket
Thanks!
