BB3 question ?

Has anyone built one for a motor with a 20" shaft ?

Jeff, the only difference would be to raise the transom to a level sufficient for a long shaft motor. I've seen transoms raised 2" or so for tuning purposes but I think the amount you would need to raise it for a long shaft (maybe 5"?) would look funky but that's just my opinion. It's your boat so you can build it any way you want.

So how low does the 15" shaft set below the pods ?

Not BBIII, but the Scaup I am building has a 20" transom.

I really doesn't sit below the pods. Here's a pic. I know I have more pics but no time to look for them this morning before turkey hunting. I'll have some up later today.

Jeff , The top cavitation plate should be no lower than 1 inch below you boat. I posted a link http://www.serviceyourboat.com/buying-right-second-handused-outboard-boat/ . I had to raise mine 2 3/4 of an inch. I built a bb2.

Gotcha Jeff,I can raise the transom to get the height correct but I'm wonderinghow its ggonna look w the 20" shaft

I think it will look fine . Make a cardboard cutout of your transom and see what it looks like
