Yesterday I was able to attend the opening of the new Horicon Marsh museum with a guided tour. The building replaces a famous restaurant that burned down a few years ago. The site gives a great view of the marsh. The museum itself, with pictures, videos, and actual equipment, decoys from early on shows the history of the marsh. It was interesting talking to the volunteer DNR people that made it possible.. If you are ever in the vicinity it would be well worth the time to make a visit. Viewing the early decoys I can see where my father (in the late 30's and early 40's) got his patterns for the decoys he made.
