A few years ago there was a similar story here in Mass. Some animal lovers had rescued a large lobster from a super market and were going to release it back into the ocean. They hired a lobster boat to take them out, had the film crew there, dignitaries, etc., etc., etc. As the 20 pound lobster was going over the side, the captain of the boat said, "Hey guys, you forgot to take the bands off the claws!"
They basically doomed the lobster to a slow death by way of starvation and rendered it incapable of defending itself. Knuckleheads.
