At long last, I found some time to post this Tutorial on my site. And, although I am having trouble figuring out (WordPress changes frequently....) how to place it where I want within my menu, I believe anybody can find it at:

As usual, I try to illustrate and explain each step in my process. Between the Drakes and the Hens, there are about 80 captioned images for you to follow. I demonstrate most of my process on a pair of Homer Mallards - but I have used the same approach on LL Beans, Al McCormicks, Herter's, Lake Ontario Decoy Company, and Chesapeake Bay Decoy Company birds - and even on a few Sanford birds...

And - in response to many requests - I included the Behr paints list as an image to (I hope) make it easier for anyone to print out.

All the best,

Perfect timing. Season has ended, and the tails on my cork mallards are beat enough to need a touch-up.

Great write up Steve, always enjoy reading your posts. I really hope to try my hand out and learn to do some carving this year
