Spring Break Trip

Took a little trip to Chassahowitzka Campground and paddles the springs and rivers. Did a lot of paddling, a little fishing, watched some manatees and thought about how this shallow eel grass & wigeon grass filled river must have teemed with scaup and redheads in winter before it became over-run with tourist and guide boats. (that last sadly true bit made this duck related).

Any alligator in those waters? How well do manatee and alligator fair together? Can manatee outswim a gator? They'd certainly be tough to swallow whole :).

Looks like a nice way to spend a weekend!

The wacissa river up here reminds me of the description of the rivers and springs down your way and always seemed like a great place to find ducks. Even with all the food though, I rarely see anything other than wood ducks and moorhen. And it has very few people on/near it.

I am sure there are but we have not seen gators when we have been there.
Full grown manatees are way to big for gators to even try to tackle!
