Who remembers

I knew some business acquaintances that knew some folks well that worked for Duck Commander ...we are talking Phil ...Duck Commander(a quality show) NOT Duck dynasty

That show , from what I was informed cost them $30,000 per episode to play on TNN / sportsman's channel cable channel ..and that was some horrible time slot like 1am in the morning ..(affordable ) ...multiply that buy a dozen and we are talking big bucks ....hence roping in paid sponsorship contracts ...it takes money to make money

Unfortunately the trend is to get (prostaffed/sponsored ) it was rampant 15 years ago and kids keep asking for it cause they love free stuff , but mostly the status as m of being prostaff ...one guy said all he got was 2 coffie mugs and a hoodie ...congratulations your a prostaff for banded/Avery! Lol

I don't like the infomercial shows and podcasts , I think people see them for what they are... over commercialized

It is the results - limits of ducks, a B/C buck (even if the high fence is juuuuust off camera), huge trout or salmon or tarpon - and the external praises of people we don't even know to validate our prowess...and we have to discuss every aspect so those coming after can repeat it, rather than learn it and enjoy the experience.

I think you summed it up pretty good here Rick. It used to be the ads were on the commercial break of the program, now the program is an ad.

During the reception of the one man art show at the gallery a couple came up to me. They told me that last winter they were in Louisiana and went to the church where Phil Robertson preaches, and teaches Sunday School. Afterwards they approached him and had a wonderful conversation. They were impressed about how respectful and humble the man is. That made me smile as neither had ever duck hunted but were drawn to the Life Style.

my 2 cents

Some people do, especially the older ones, but some of the younger generations...that's all they know. Slow motion shots of birds taking a load of steel BB's, background music, etc.

I get the expense just to get it on the network, but you'd think the sponsors would be content with the commercials, the lead ins and fadeouts. Feels like we are headed to a Nascar situation with patches on the jackets and stickers on every available spot in the boats...I know they are already on the trucks and trailers.

One thing that I think has made some of the shows is the way they use a drone...I like seeing what the spread/rig and the blind looks like from the air. That is truly revolutionary. I wish guys like Gary Borger had that available when they were making flyfishing videos back in the 80's and 90's...

I don't know the legality, and how the birds would react to it in the air, but high angle drone shots of birds working in would be a really neat thing to see, in my opinion.

Rick, I asked that question on legality on using a drone to check my spread. Attached was my answer.
