Oxidized gelcoat

The gel coat on my DB13 is starting to oxidize in “high traffic areas.” I’m in the midst of patching some gelcoat chips and wondering whether it’s time to give the boat a fresh paint job while I’m at it. Or alternatively, to buff with compound. I’ve put some pictures below. I’d be curious to know you all think.

Painting is a big job but when prep is properly done and quality paint is used the boat looks new again. It is no small task to strip a boat down and prep, but it is rewarding to do it right. I don't think a wax will cure the faded area. If you want to avoid the labor/cost of painting you might try Flood Penetrol. It is used to restore faded fiberglass. Simply brush/wipe on. It does add sheen, but not too bad.
