What have I got here?

My neighbor dropped these off , thought I might like them. I do. I’m not sure what I’ll do with them yet but I have ideas.
I’m not sure if they are commercially made or not…. Maybe herters?? Anyone seen them before? He had no idea on their origin.

They look like what are called pond boxes in the mid-Atlantic.

Since it wasn’t raining yesterday I flipped them over and tried to sort out all the wood parts , some I figured out, some I have no idea where they go. Then I put one in the water and poled it around a bit.

I had a bit of a dilemma, found a pile of mallards using a slough too shallow or without access for any of my duck boats but too deep for the dog stand. Then I remembered these little boats so I pushed one in there this morning with my 5 month old pup Skaði riding in it. Quick mallard limit and a bonus goose and home again before the little dog could get cold.

The epitome of less is more productive puddle duck & goose hunting in my world. It worked "back in the day" as it works these days. Two Thumbs Way Up!

Skid sleds. those are great for flooded fields and snowy pastures. You can drag them along with a load of stuff and even float across a canal if you are careful.
