Winter is here. Who’s hunting?

Have you ever had him out on upland? He’s pushed a few quail up; have to stay with him and luckily they flew my way.

We sat down one evening and figured I had killed ~65-70k pigeons off that property during that time. That’s a lot of pigeons and good eating!!

We get a ton of birds here with rice breast. I’ve already had to toss several black ducks, a pintail and a gadwall.

That sucks. I hate seeing it and I hate not harvesting meat off my kill.

Yes although the salt marsh ducks of Long Island are not quite the most delicious table fare, I hate seeing them go to waste. The seagulls benefit I guess lol

Had a 30 degree warm up overnight and no wind. Took what I could get. Not a hen shooter, but the more I stare at my hen decoys, the more I realize they need so much more work. Went ahead and pulled the trigger on one this morning. She was a nasally old hen. She’ll eat, but I still felt guilty pulling the trigger on her. Haven’t seen a pin in over a month, so this was a pleasant surprise. Likely headed to the taxi with a woodduck this off season.
