I have my bulb in a the battery box and in all my years of running in frigid frigid temps, I have never had one freeze up to the point I couldnt compress it. Maybe because mine is in a box? I honestly have no idea the company, I put mine in 6 years ago when I bought this boat, but I feel like it was just a quick buy from a local RV/Boat dealership. Can someone please point me in the direction of a fuel bulb that won't turn to stone at 15 degrees?
I'm confused, you have your fuel line running thru your battery box?I have my bulb in a the battery box
Yessir.. Theres a big big hatch on the back of the havoc boats. It really is big enough to put 2 batteries and probably a 4-6 gallon tank. I went ahead and routed a fuel line through that box, and through the storage box (port side), down the port length of the boat (through the gun box) and put a 9 gallon tank at the front of the boat in the big storage area. Keeps weight forward in a mudrig. At one point when I was fishing out of my aluminum boat, I had 3 batteries in that rear box. Since removing the trolling motor, just a starter battery. But since the fuel line goes through there, I put the bulb down in the storage area to keep it out of the elements. Open it up, compress two times and give a key a twist and wa la it starts right up every time. I also mounted my battery charger against the wall and added a little plug holder. Kind of the business side of things in my boat is in that one rear storage box. A major reason I went with a havoc with reverse chines on the hull, no foam around the storage boxes makes for an insane amount of area for storage. My boxes are about 3x bigger than all the boxes you will see in excel boats.I'm confused, you have your fuel line running thru your battery box?
The Mercury Factory Bulbs I have on my 15 Merc tank stay fairly flexible. Factory branded from boat motor manufactures is what your after, not a Walmart Bulb. Can someone please point me in the direction of a fuel bulb that won't turn to stone at 15 degrees?
I agree, original bulbs are usually better in the cold - the best I've had are the Yamaha bulbs. In the we always carry a spare bulb in the boat kit along with a couple of hose clamps, and in the winter we always have a spare fuel line to replace one that is not working. The Mercury Factory Bulbs I have on my 15 Merc tank stay fairly flexible.
