oooweeee we gots sum weather heading to us

Things should be receding by Wednesday. But no matter how much the water backs up my boat just floats higher. No really it takes quite a flood like in spring 08 to submerge the islands in the SJR where I'm hunting on opening day. Actually if the water floods up into the trees a bit makes for...

    Eider Hunting

Ok just picture a big isosceles triangle. 1x3's will be pinned together at one end, so they can open and close. The bottom of the triangle will be a 1x2, really just something that will hold the 1x3's in place. The whole set up will be able to fold up by disconnecting one end of the 1x2. On one...

    Eider Hunting

I'm still working on my eider sillouette set up and have more questions. I'm planning to mount them on 1x3 and put 4 on one side and three on the other such that they alternate. I'm wondering what would be the correct ratio of drakes to hens? I'm thinking of putting 2 drakes and 2 hens on one...

    Eider Hunting

Hi Shermie We are looking to get out and do some early hunting on October so as to get accustomed to the hunting areas prior to the late season. The Saint John to St Stephen shore (zone 1 I think) opens in mid Oct with the rest of the prov opening on 01 oct. We're thinking of starting at...

    Eider Hunting

I've been working on some eider sillouettes last weekend, off of a template that I borrowed. They are put on 1x3 that will fold out into a triangle shape base when done. Or so thats how I understand it. Yes i did a quick search and saw some of the previous posts I will have to scour over them...

    Manitoba Trip 2008 with pictures.

Brandon, looks like you had a fantastic trip, thanks for taking the time to share your photos and trip with us. I couldn't help noticing that you had on a pair of the cabelas neoprene waders in the picture of you sitting on the front of your boat, the ones with the velcro shoulder straps. Would...

Customer service at the big box store....not

There is nothing I hate worse than dealing with numb teenagers at the local store. I guess that they're the only ones who will work for minumum wage. When a business only pays minimum wage you get minimum effort out of the employees. There is a local Mom and Pop store out home that sells...

    Shooting Slugs

I was looking at slugs at Walmart, pack of 5, $4.45 for 2 3/4 inch and $4.85 for 3". Now a 3 inch shell normally means more shot, is a 3" slug actually longer or would it have more powder. I also see that they are hollow point. Bill G.

    Shooting Slugs

OK thanks guys for the insight. This my first new shotgun and first one with the screw in choke tubes. We're working on a sweet little stand on my brothers 100 acre woodlot. We've just got the floor done and from there I'd say you can see maybe 50 yards till the under brush gets too thick...

    Shooting Slugs

I've got a new Rem 870 Express with Skeet, IC and Mod choke tubes. I know the proper way to shoot slugs out of a shot gun is to go out and buy a slug barrel. However if I do that I may as well just buy another whole gun as they are going for around $250 here in Canada and the whole gun can be...

    foam core sneak box

Doug, not sure what exact type of sneak box your looking at but I once saw a small boat made from three sheets of blue construction foam, fiberglassed over. And maybe some plywood to edge in the cockpit. Anyway it looked like a pretty unsinkable little craft and quite inexpensive. I'm still...

    NDR--Bear Story

A sad situation for the bear, however it would have been alot sadder if the bear had of clawed up one of the Turkey festival vistors. The police handled the situation in the only way possible being that the bear had been sighted multiple times near human habitation. Hard to believe that there...

Real Names - One More Time

YAA, drop the hammer Eric is right. Real names is like when they have a video camera trained on the strikers, everyone tends to behave a little better knowing that their actions will be called to account at a later date in time. Not that I'm against the right to strike however I've seen some...

    Missing Hunters

David, your right about those older bulky lifejackets that people drag around since they were a kid and never wear. A comfortable lifejacket is one that you will wear, I have am old mustang lifejacket that fits me like a glove that I've been wearing since the 90's, but it's time for a new one...
