Hey Eric i'm taking your advice and trying to locate a motor before i start building the Scaup. What size shaft lenght do you run? is a 20 inch ok or do i need to find a 15? Derek

Well i was going to build a BBIII til i realized i needed more room with a few guys and the dog or dogs. Question is if you put a 4 stroke on the Scaup do you have to modify the motor well like on the BBIII. Looks like the Yamaha or Honda 40 are the lightest so thats what i'm thinking. Also...

changed my plans and went from building a BBIII to a Scaup. Decieded i wanted more room.

I rebuilt an aerobatic airplane once used for competition flying and i used to try to save a pound here or a pound there when what i really needed was to go on a diet and lose 30 lbs that i've put on since i got married. I guess that would apply here to if i went with the 4 stroke!

not that i can see on their website and even the 4 stroke is ridiculouly heavy. Best i've found is a honda 30hp coming in at 159 lbs. Guess i'll have to investigate the used market. The prices of a new motor are pretty ridiculous anyway.

So far i can't even find a manufacturer offering a 2 stroke in that hp range. At least not on their web sites. Any recomendations, maybe i'm missing something. Derek
