    August workbench...

Although not as good and detailed as the others posted, I figured I would put my latest working Greenwing decoys out. Black Cork, basswood heads and composite decking for the keel. Eyes are furniture tacks. Fairly crude by the high standards on this post, but they cost about $2 each in...

First Birds in My New Boat

    Layout Seat

The one I bought about 3 years ago did not have lumbar support. I just use a treestand seatpad to cushion / support when I need it. I think that the Momarsh seats are very comfortable...and they are tough as nails. I hunt all day from my boat / seat and have never had a problem.

    Carstens Puddler or ?????

Momarsh Fatboy DP gets my vote as well. Great profile, good room in the cockpit and stable enough to stand on the aft deck while poling. Only downside...Not easy to paddle in any wind except the lightest breeze.

    Canvasback Decoys

Hello All; Had some problems with my first attempt to post my pics. Finished my first four canvasback decoys. Black Cork with baseboard and composite decking keel. Sealed them with spar varnish and mixture of gesso / modeling paste before coloring. I must admit, I only carved the...

Looking for some open water gunning tips

Kevin; Thanks much for the tips. I have hunted Stillwater the past couple years. I usually get to go up there for a long weekend and that's about it. Last year was a very tough season and I did not get there until December. Even then, had some good gunning. This year I might try Mason...

Looking for some open water gunning tips

Carl; Thanks much for the very useful info. I'm pretty sure that most of the places I hunt, birds are just loafing for the day. Again, I appreciate you taking the time to get me a little smarter.

Looking for some open water gunning tips

A little background first. Last year I purchased a Fatboy DP and got 'er grassed up and ready to go. I usually hunt in Nevada and California on the various public marshes. During my hunts last year, I kept the boat grassed up and tucked away in the various holes and sloughs on the bigger...

What piece of duck gear has made hunting more comfortable?

High quality, durable neoprene waders.... Close second is my layout chair with the high density foam. It's amazing how much longer I can stay out hunting in freezing and sub-freezing temps, bad weather, etc. with these two pieces of gear.
