    Woodrow has landed in Bama

I'm glad he's safe! I would have hated to be known as 'the guy who lost Woodrow"!

    Pic's - Woodrow in Kansas

Ed: I live in Overland Park, which is a suburb of Kansas City. Maires de Cygnes and LaCygne are south of KC about 50 miles on Hwy 69, so 100 miles north and east of Parsons. Where did you hunt around Parsons? Dave: Yes Woodrow is heading to Alabama today.

    Pic's - Woodrow in Kansas

It is amazing how much better the hand painted decoy shows up compared to the plastic ones, but you guys already knew that. The picture of the fog doesn't do justice to how thick the fog was.

    Central Flyway No-Shows

I have an old 16ga Remington Sportsman 48. Love that gun, but for pheasants, never taken it duck hunting. Bismuth is EXPENSIVE. I buy Bismuth for my daughter to shoot in her 20ga, but I'm too cheap to buy it for myself, I just shoot on of my 12ga's.

    New to the Forum

I use Microsoft photo editor and resize to 25%. However the pics show up "full size" when I insert them in the post. Never understood that.

    Central Flyway No-Shows

As one of the few literate central flyway hunters, I would like to speak to the subject at hand. My buddies treat me with rightous disdain. They truly HATE boat hunters!! They are old fashioned bucket hunters, wood duck calls, pack in your decoys, heck one of still shoots an old model 12...

    Woodrow's Kansas Hunt

Took Woodrow out for his Kansas hunt this afternoon. Didn't kill any ducks, didn't even shoot, but it was a really neat afternoon. The sky was clear and the temperature was around 20 and the windchill was in the single digits, so I went to the hot water outlet at the powerplant . The...

    Sorta duck related: aging meat

I shot a deer today not sure how long I can let it hang before I butcher it. I usually butcher the next day, but a friend letting the deer hang for a week. Temps here in KC will be in the 40's during the day and 20's at night, so I don't think there is much worry about the meat spoiling...

Keeping the dog in the boat

No, I'm not in a training group. I am a new member of the KC Retriever Club and the folks there are very helpful, but the type of stuff they are working on is far beyond me. I need a basic reliable dog, not a field trial dog.

Keeping the dog in the boat

Phil - I understand water freaking. Our dog "digs" in her pool in an attempt to splash all the water out. Yes, she has her own pool, not spoiled a bit is she? What I want to have in the boat is a calm dog. I truly believe that this is purely an obedience issue. I need to start over...

    Shotgun help needed!

I had these same problems with my old Mossberg 9200, but it 12 years old and had several thousand rounds run through it so it was just worn out. Unless this gun has been shot ALOT, it sounds like a gun that could use a good cleaning, including pulling the bolt. Likely there is some kind of...

Keeping the dog in the boat

Took my 2 year old Chessie out for her first hunt in the boat, and it didn't go well. I couldn't keep her in the boat! Normally her basic obidience is very good, but today I had to physically hold on to her and make her sit. Then as soon as I let go of her she bolt and go play in the water...
